About Me

Stephen Riddle is the inventor, creator, and owner of DIPGRIPS

I believe that fitness should be for any skill level.  No one should be limited by the space they have at home or the time they have to give.

Hello Everyone! My name is Stephen Riddle. I am the inventor, creator, and owner of DIPGRIPS!

I’m married to a wonderful woman and we have two amazing kids. I have a full time job in addition to running my own business. In my spare time (what is that exactly?) I love martial arts, the beach, helping other people, driving anywhere, and taking my kids around to new places. My son and I take father/son road trips every year to a place of his choosing- mostly to see dinosaur bones!

Four years ago I was in a state of extreme stress. I had a decent job, but I wasn’t going anywhere. More importantly- I wasn’t happy.

With a schedule that changed weekly, I had zero balance in my life. I had no time for my wife or kids. I take jiujistu, one source of stress relief, and couldn’t keep a steady schedule with it. Unfulfilled, miserable, lost. These are words that could describe me.

I wanted more out of life and out of myself but I didn’t know how to make it happen.

Summer of 2012, I just finished reading a book called Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. In it, the author discusses why successful people had achieved so much for themselves. There are a lot of cool concepts in there, but the one thing that stood out to me was the 10,000 hour rule. 10,000 hours to master something. For me, it meant that anyone could be successful if the practices the right things long enough.

Inspired, I started thinking about making something of value that I could use to get my butt back in gear. As a big fan of my doorway pullup bar, I thought why can’t I put a dip stand on there too?

I’m not an engineer, but I sketched out something on a piece of paper. Still unsure about the whole thing, I researched for about a month. I didn’t find anything like what I had drawn.

Even though I’m not a builder of things, I decided to build this thing lol! I made 3 or 4 prototypes myself!!! And

……all of them failed. Bummer, right?

Those of you who know me personally know that I am of the bullheaded stubborn variety. I did some more research and found a website called Elance. I put up a bid for someone to make what I had drawn.

Someone offered to build it and I took the chance. I received my first real prototype just before Christmas of 2012. I was so excited that I ran downstairs to set it up. What do you know? It worked!!!!

A lot is involved in the process of bringing a physical product to life.  Since I had no idea how to do any of it, I had to learn about many different facets of business.  I think I’ll elaborate more on the things I did and what I’ve learned in a separate blog post.

After two solid years of research, development, and learning, I can proudly say that DIPGRIPS has been brought to the marketplace on Amazon.com!

Hundreds of people JUST LIKE YOU are enjoying DIPGRIPS and getting great results!  As of the time of this writing, DIPGRIPS are in 47 STATES and 22 COUNTRIES!  Not too shabby for a 1 man show!

I’m very happy with the things I’ve accomplished.  More than that, I’m very happy that so many people are benefiting from my little idea.

Thanks for checking out my site!!
